All autocannons (Tempest, Punisher, Viper, etc) can go into Acceleration mode that gradually increases rate of fire. It is activated if one keeps firing for 3 consecutive seconds (it is 2,2 for Viper). To reduce the time it takes for the weapon to go into the Acceleration Mode, make use of Speedshooter, a pilot's skill.
